Surprise, We're back!
« on: February 27, 2012, 05:35:11 AM »
Hello fellow day by day users! :P

As some of you may have noticed, over the past few days the TDSM site has changed hosts (Thanks to Olympus Gaming!).
Why you ask? Well, we are back!

Yeh, that's right. TDSM is back, for good. I also know this might sound like we're milking the "here for good" due to Terraria's last update shortly; But we actually started TDSM up again around a month or so ago.
We are sad Terraria is coming to an end, But this doesn't mean the modding community needs to come to an end as well. In fact I know of a few developments in their planning stages. (Sorry, I cannot say much more :P)

The current state for TDSM is somewhat still in beta for 1.1.2 so we are releasing it as a PreRelease. What I do ask of users, is when there is an issue, bug or an exception is to either post it in the appropriate section on the forums or add it to the Bug Tracker if it isn't already.
However, we do have our showcase server up and running (ever since we started 1.1.2) and our moderator (D1G1T4L3CH0) is working hard on helping us out to resolve as many issues as possible.

Along with this new update we have yet again expanded, improved and prevented what we can; Here is a small list of the update:
Code: [Select]
Build: 37
===================
- Updated all NPC AI (38/38)
- Added hardmode
- Added all 1.1/.2 NPC's + invasions
- Added more hooks for new bosses/misc
- Snow!
- Few more server properties options & command line arguments
- Language file + generation tool
- Minor method changes in Server.cs & upgrade to World.cs + other misc API changes
- More commands.
- Allowed spawning through statues and spawnnpc when summoning is disabled (configurable)
- Code names.
- Standard tile compression
- WorldGen/Modify function semi-overhaul
- Player Sandbox! (Logs tile modifications)
- [WIP] New message classes designed for packets that can be abused

There will most likely be plugin breakages who use World functions due to the new sandbox editor. Besides that we have a few new hooks and a list of new properties for server owners to play with.

Have fun!

Yay! I'm excited about this release. Thanks to DeathCradle and Stickiler who are the main devs that brought TDSM back.  ;D
Server Machine: Xubuntu 11.10 Xfce Mono 2.10.5
Thanks to all those who work on TDSM. It's a great alternative to the official one. And thanks to the plugin devs too for making it even better.

Awesome stuff - I've been following the commits, but haven't had the time to offer any help. I will, however, be starting work on rakAntiGrief again (or rakAntiCheat perhaps) soon as lots of people seemed to use it.

Or TDSM, but it's close enough ;)
If I do not respond to You or a Thread, its DeathCradles fault, blame him :P

You guys are amazing, I despise TShock. This is simple, it just works. Low RAM usage, no narcassistic stickers all over saying "TShock blah blah", no lag spikes and stable as hell.

Thank you guys, so much, will make our CTGs much easier for our channel:

While I am glad there is another server project out there let's not be premature. As we can see from the Psi stress test hacking is a bit on an issue. ;)

Here was our fun last night: http://youtu.be/6XVk5zaVuus

Thanks for the support guys ;)

Perhaps use plugins as they are intended? We let plugins do most of the extension work because,

1) TDSM can be used at stock or pimped out with plugins,
2) We also intended this for also getting more plugin developers active.
3) This has never changed. Hopefully more developers jump aboard; Otherwise it may have to :c

Holy crap, I was not expecting this.

Nor was I expecting them to stop developing Terraria so soon.

Thank god TDSM is back.

As a GSP i actually used TDSM exclusively on our servers because its just better. Better memory usage, response and most importantly setup!
I hope the plugin community builds up and diversifies :)

Brett of EndlessGaming
