I am familiar enough with C# to say that I would also like to give some time to help this project. I would really like to move Terraria over to one of my Linux boxes, and TDSM is the only option for that.

I just wanted to quote what UndeadMiner said earlier in this thread so in case people missed it the first time...

Experienced C# programmers are always welcome, come by #TDSMdev on EsperNet if you want to help.

That's an IRC channel on EsperNet. Here's an IRC Tutorial. The easiest way to connect is to just click Chat Now at the top of the EsperNet page and fill in the info.

Server Machine: Xubuntu 11.10 Xfce Mono 2.10.5
Thanks to all those who work on TDSM. It's a great alternative to the official one. And thanks to the plugin devs too for making it even better.

Don't drink the haterade! TDSM is awesome, I love it and I'm not alone. I hope the power of open source can take over and keep this going even if you personally decide not to work on it anymore.

Man, every time I get into a server project it seems to go downhill.
First it started with Minecraft and Hmod and now with TDSM. Dang.
I have experience in Java and Objective-c. Not much help I'm afraid. Sorry.
Back to Vanilla servers I guess.  :-\
Would you like pies with that?

Is there an estimated time until it will be released?

I have a prerelease up but it's still a WIP. The most probably bugs would be the client disconnects or item/tile issues.

But if there is an error, to help us; Please post an exception or information how to reproduce.

Okay, now it's time to wait for 1.1.1. I think that you shouldn't just be all, "herp derp i must not continue." I'm not saying that's what you are saying, but it's what it's being translated as to me. I understand that it will take a while to update, but just think few a few seconds to slap some sense into this conservation. If George Washington gave up, I'd probably be living in a large hellhole. If Martin Luther King Jr. gave up, I'd die defending blacks. You need to understand, this is probably a phase of terraria where there's simply an update barrage. Try relaxing, and playing terraria, take a break from programming TDSM, and wait for another long update. Take that time, and begin working again, to make us all enjoy what you have to give us. I highly enjoyed playing this, and if it ends, then it will end on a happy note, on account of you tried, but I think you shouldn't just give up yet. Continue trying, for the sake of the at least 1,000+ people behind you.

It's not about an update storm.  And it's not just the vanilla users giving hate.  It's Redigit's total disregard for the mass server community and the work we put into fixing the server that is totally ignored by Relogic.  In doing a lot of this, we were hoping we could get Redigit to reform some of his terribly programming, but apparently he doesn't care about prolonging the use of his game by those who bought it long ago.  He just wants to get new users on so he can get more money.

At least, that's the impression he's given all of us in the server mod community (including those at tShock and other mod groups).

I know you guys are busy with the holiday but is there an estimated time before we can get the pre-release for v1.1.1?

It will be awhile... if-ever. For now the only way is Tshock, however sad it may be  :'(

I'll let it be known that my preference is TDSM all the way. It's about twice as efficient as Tshock, and because of the model that Tshock uses for development (Using a wrapper for the vanilla server), I don't see how they could approach TDSM's level of efficiency, though I might be ignorant in this area.

I haven't given up on TDSM, but because I still don't understand the inner-workings, I can't say confidently that I will be able to fix much anytime soon.
In the meantime, I will try to learn as much about c# networking and sockets as I can to understand the TDSM code. I really want to be able to contribute, but networking is my weakness, and it's where the remaining bugs are for 1.1 as far as I can tell. Thats one reason I made TSignOnDoor, just so I can learn more.

As for 1.1.1, who knows what problems I'll run into.

Tshock is just now barely making progress in support for mono if I'm not mistaken. They are miles behind what TDSM offers in performance and reliability.
