TD*M + 1.1 - What are we doing?
« on: December 02, 2011, 09:46:37 PM »
I am aware most of you a now wondering "When is TDSM for 1.1  coming out?" or similar about TDCM.
At the moment it is hard for us to continue the TDSM project altogether due to problems personally and between the TerrariaOnline community.

I personally have received and read much hate about TDSM and more so TDCM to the point where I feel as if I wish to leave modding altogether.
During the development of TDSM and other code along with it, The Development Team and I have started to lose interest in Terraria; This may possibly because a few of us are now working and even now we never have the time to play at all.

A few days ago I was talking to the TShock Team and we have the same issues regarding to what they have said; So I do not need to restate what has already been said.
For those who have not seen,
I would suggest heading over to the TShock Forums and over to the thread at TerrariaOnline to read up on what was said.

Now, what are we doing, "Is TDSM updating or not" you ask?
The simple answer, Yes. It may be a couple weeks for a stable version with us, The Team now working.
But it comes with a catch, This might possibly well be our last update ever. The TDCM Mod may not even be updated at all yet, I'll see how we go as TDSM will need a lot of changes in itself.

I would love to keep TDSM going, But with how things are right now, I'm not sure if we can much longer. We would need more developers to jump aboard and lend a hand, which is doubtful. At the current state, for next release I would say it will all be me and with all the changes needed it would not be worth the time of you and myself.

When the time comes for the next update and we haven't made an announcement regarding the development status, I would suggest switching your servers over to our friends at TShock.

We had a good run,
-Death

Id just like to let you know, some of us still appreciate what you guys do. Only people that complain are the ones that seem to be "lol anything thats not made by redigit must be a hack, so delete it" idiots.

But regardless, I personally think that putting work into this project, for free of charge, for the good of the community, you guys are awesome and the naysayers are simply mentally handicapped children.

If you guys are to continue development me and my community of 640 members are 100% behind you.

If you decide to halt development then I am glad that I was able to enjoy the amazing mod you guys distributed. I also hope that I can find another game to host.

You guys have done an amazing job, thank you for everything.

what language do you use,
I am currently trying to learn c++ with a on line tutorial, and i did well in a visual basic class in high school,

if you are willing to tolerate a newbie, you have someone with unlimited time on their hands,

I'm serous, i am doing absolutely nothing right now, other than sleeping and playing games (can't work, so i get disability payments) so i would love to help with a productive product such as this.

Sad day.  :'( I suppose we are expected by re-logic  >:( to find only people we can trust to play on our servers. kick and ban are useful, but only after the damage is done. Also the vanilla server runs like crap. I have re-realized how much better TDSM runs than the vanilla server during this time we are without TDSM...

It's really disappointing that some people won't accept a little guidance and collaboration to make their product even better.  :-\

I hope this will be the last update for Terraria personally since every new update brings more frustration. And if development on this and other server administration software stops, at least the last version should continue working. Time to start on Terraria 2 re-logic. Leave this one alone now.
Server Machine: Xubuntu 11.10 Xfce Mono 2.10.5
Thanks to all those who work on TDSM. It's a great alternative to the official one. And thanks to the plugin devs too for making it even better.

Terraria will have a Christmas update on the 15, and one last update, 1.3 some time in the future. Atleast that is the current plan.

To Tiy/beta testing team/Redigit, this info is available publicly from Redigit's chat in #terraria, so don't think I'm leaking this.

Much love for you guys and TDSM.
While I hope you continue your work on this amazing server I've grown to love... I do understand why you wouldn't.

Really, that is the saddest thing i have read today :(

I really hoped so much for linux version of server files. Redigit and 90% of narrowminded TerrariaOnline users made their point. I didn't even realised that, there is so much hate against Terraria modifications.

Well... maybe it's because of their perspective, as those who always benefit from those who contribute. They are like leeches.

Deathcradle. You made really great mod. I just regret, that i tried it so late (i mean tdsm as dedicated linux server). Well. Maybe it's time to move on to other game and run another fansite?

Really. We, i think i can speak for all TerrariaHQ.pl community, wish You the best, but also hope for last work :)

What if enough people donate? Is there any chance of this project surviving?
I am a (fairly) experienced C# programmer, I can help out a bit if you want.

It's not really an issue of money. We all have jobs now and that's why we're all out of time and energy.
Experienced C# programmers are always welcome, come by #TDSMdev on EsperNet if you want to help.
I'm employed full-time now, that's why you don't see me much.

I also don't think it's an money issue.

Im running TerrariaHQ.pl from the beginning of may 2011 and so far i had spending only. No income. I was organising tournaments with prizes, league, dedicated servers. It's the matter of will.

If people don't intergrate with the overall idea of community and Your work, then there is no point in further work. I have same feeling as DeathCradle, but with my tHQ. I just don't see the point of running forums and website ONLY for single player gaming.
