Terraria 1.0.6.1 Bug - Inisible PVP Participants
« on: November 01, 2011, 01:46:41 AM »
Just wanted to start a topic on this very rare issue that still plagues PVP in Terraria. I know this isn't a TDSM bug, it's apparently from everything I've read about it, a client bug. Either way I figured it might be good to post about it with some information I have acquired about it since it just happened on my server. I think shedding some extra light on the issue may either get the game devs to actually notice there is an issue or maybe there is some way trpg can fix it.

The problem is when a player turns invisible to other players in PVP.  There is this topic where this has been talked about before. It also links to this topic which has some additional information.

Some things that I found... I have confirmed using a mirror does fix it. The invisible player uses it. Also the invisible players death will fix it, if another player on the server can see the player in order to kill them. I was also able to repeat it at least three or four times. But only I, could go invisible to others. Others did not become invisible to me. This was done by using the firey greatsword against me. It didn't happen every time. But it happened after maybe four or five deaths. So this may confirm the fire weapon thing talked about on that second link.

I think this may also have something to do with network latency and de-synchronization between client and server. And it in my opinion is the most likely cause, but seeing as how it only seems to happen with fire weapons, that may disprove it. I was however connected through LAN to my server.

If anyone else has any input on this or personal experiences they would like the share, I think this would be the right place to do it instead of making a bug report in the bugs section.

Hopefully the game devs will notice it eventually, or at least care enough to fix it.

My server system is in my signature. The server build is b35.

Edit: This also happened. I was still on fire after death. Only to other's though, not myself.

Thanks to all those who work on TDSM. It's a great alternative to the official one. And thanks to the plugin devs too for making it even better.
