Server Hibernation
« on: August 25, 2011, 02:56:44 AM »
I was curious if this server uses a perpetual clock, or if it goes into hibernation when everyone logs out.

If it does hibernate, is there a setting to disable server hibernation?

The world stops updating when all players leave, there's no setting to disable it.
I'm employed full-time now, that's why you don't see me much.

When 1.0.5 came out, I was really perturbed, and annoyed at some of the changes. I didn't like the change to the Rocket Boot physics, but I understand why they did, and I'm ok with it. I HATED the mud physics, and they recently reversed that change back to the previous physics.

Out of all the changes that really pissed me off in the 1.0.5 update, the only last one still existing is the server hibernation thing. I find that to be really irritating that Re-Logic didn't put that in as a toggle, but forced hibernation on the entire playerbase.

I would like to formally request a toggle that will allow the server to never hibernate, regardless of whether or not a player is logged in. I hate having to use a bot on a separate PC to force my server from hibernating. I asked for this at the Terraria Online forums, but I feel I have a much better chance of finding a successful resolution to that issue here than there.

Also, the fact that this server mod is amazing, and why the hell would I go back to using the stock Dedicated Server, I would have to be insane to give up using TDSM. And I have only been using it one day, I am that impressed.
